The lustrous blue stone carved around the lapis lazuli archaistic tripod incense burner and
exterior with an inscription reading 大唐 cover, late 18th/19th century, in the British
貞觀寶鼎 (‘Da Tang Zhenguan Baoding’), Royal Collection, listed by 1920 in Queen
‘Precious ding from the Tang Zhenguan Reign’, Mary’s Bibelots, illustrated by J.Ayers, Chinese
supported on three double scroll and paw and Japanese Works of Art in the Collection of
cabriole feet, the sides with mythical-beast- Her Majesty the Queen, vol.III, London, 2016,
head handles suspending loose rings, the p.827, no.1922. A related archaistic lapis lazuli
domed cover similarly carved with characters, censer, gui, dated 18th century (12cm wide),
carved hardwood stand. was sold at Christie’s London, 11 November
