China, 266-316. The recumbent ram modeled with a curvaceous AucTION ResulT
spine and robust rump above legs tucked underneath, its raised head cOMPARIsON
pierced with a circular aperture on top, detailed with a pair of bulged Compare with a closely
eyes and curled striated horns encircling lop ears, applied overall with related piece sold by
an olive-green glaze with streaks of amber. Sotheby’s Hong Kong in

Provenance: From a German private collection. 2017, lot 407, for HKD
condition: Good condition with wear and firing irregularities, two $250,000, and another
small chips with old touchups on the horns. Very impressive condition sold by Sotheby’s Hong
considering the age of this piece! Kong in Chinese Art on

This charming piece belongs to a group of playful vessels made for the 越窯青釉羊形器,西晉
scholar’s desk that were produced in kilns in northern Zhejiang and 中國,266-316。橫臥的公羊,脊柱彎曲,腿藏于肚下,頭部高高擡起,圓形孔,頂
部飾有一對凸出的眼睛和環繞垂耳的捲曲條紋角,羊形器整體施橄欖綠色釉面,帶
southern Jiangsu province. Vessels of this form have been unearthed from 有琥珀色條紋。
Three Kingdoms and Jin dynasty tombs, suggesting that they were highly
