China, 266-316. The recumbent ram modeled with a curvaceous AucTION ResulT
spine and robust rump above legs tucked underneath, its raised head cOMPARIsON
pierced with a circular aperture on top, detailed with a pair of bulged Compare with a closely
eyes and curled striated horns encircling lop ears, applied overall with related piece sold by
an olive-green glaze with streaks of amber. Sotheby’s Hong Kong in

Provenance: From a German private collection. 2017, lot 407, for HKD
condition: Good condition with wear and firing irregularities, two $250,000, and another
small chips with old touchups on the horns. Very impressive condition sold by Sotheby’s Hong

This charming piece belongs to a group of playful vessels made for the 越窯青釉羊形器，西晉
scholar’s desk that were produced in kilns in northern Zhejiang and 中國，266-316。橫臥的公羊，脊柱彎曲，腿藏于肚下，頭部高高擡起，圓形孔，頂
部飾有一對凸出的眼睛和環繞垂耳的捲曲條紋角，羊形器整體施橄欖綠色釉面，帶
southern Jiangsu province. Vessels of this form have been unearthed from 有琥珀色條紋。
Three Kingdoms and Jin dynasty tombs, suggesting that they were highly
