Attractively painted depicting a continuous scene of an Imperial figure The image illustrates stories from Daoist mythology in which rulers offer
with attendants holding fans and standards, all opposite a figure their thrones to men of humble origins who invariably decline to accept
bowing in respect beside a landscape of rocks, trees, plants and walls the offer.
interrupted by swirling clouds, all between a lotus-leaf border at the
