                  A powder blue and gilt yenyen vase
                  Kangxi
                  Elaborately gilt on a mottled cobalt-blue ground with
                  four oblong panels, the trumpet neck on one side
                  with a magpie perching on a branch of flowering
                  prunus and the other with drooping chrysanthemum
                  blossoms, the body panels with luxuriant peony
                  and lotus sprays with butterflies hovering above,
                  divided by four leaf-shaped cartouches of fish and
                  butterflies, all reserved on a gilt ground of scrolling
                  flowers.

                  brushpot, bitong
                  Kangxi
                  The exterior depicting in gilt the poet Su Shi and
                  companions in a covered raft in a moonlit river
                  scene amidst a high cliff and pine trees, the reverse
                  inscribed with the poet’s ‘Ode to the Red Cliff’
                  written in kaishu, wood stand.
