Benjamin F. Edwards III, was one of the
           largest collectors of Chinese Imari porcelain.
           He transformed A. G. Edwards, the St
           Louis brokerage house into the largest US
           brokerage company outside New York, with
           an equity capital of $1.6 billion by the end of
           his presidency of the company in 2001.

           A related Chinese Imari vase of similar
           proportions, circa 1700, is illustrated by
           J.Wirgin, Fran Kina till Europa, Stockholm,
           1998, p.58, no.52. See also a similar vase and

           The baluster body rising to a tall slender
           neck and flaring rim, the neck set with a pair
           of unglazed mythical-beast-mask handles
           suspending loose rings, the exterior decorated
           with scenes of elegant ladies in a garden
           setting, the recessed base with an artemisia-
           leaf mark.
