TWO PAINTED ENAMEL GREEN-GROUND TEAPOTS AND
COVERS
18th century
Each teapot and cover of four-lobed oval section, with upright handle,
one decorated with panels of a hare on rockwork and butterflies
amongst fruit and flower sprays reserved on a lime-green geometric
ground, the other with scenes of Europeans reserved on a green-
diaper ground, both with floral sprays on the shoulders and covers and
floral scrolls on the handles. The taller 17.8cm (7in) high. (4).

SAUCER-DISHES
18th century
Each brightly painted to the centre with an eight-lobed medallion of
two magpies perching on a flowering prunus branch issuing from
blue rocks, amidst large-headed peonies and colourful butterflies, all
reserved on a lime-green ground enriched with yellow scrolling lotus
and four floral cartouches at the compass ponts, the underside with
four sprays on a white ground. 21cm (8 2/8in) diam. (4).

CHRYSANTHEMUM’ SAUCER-DISHES

Each finely painted in the well with finger citrons, chrysanthemums,
peaches and a butterfly surrounded by a yellow band of flowers, within
a purple diaper-pattern border enriched with bats and ruyi-clouds, the
exterior with a dense floral scroll reserved on a yellow ground.

Sir Harry Garner published extensively on Chinese art from the 1950s
to the 1970s and served as President of the Oriental Ceramic Society
from 1967-1971. He and Lady Garner donated much of their collection
to the British Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum.
