AN OPAQUE OCHER OVERLAY GLASS ‘LION’ SNUFF BOTTLE
1780-1850
Of flattened ovoid form, surmounted by a gently flared neck with a flat
lip, the opaque layer carved to form the oval foot ring and the design of a
male lion with a ball on one side, and the female with a cub on the other,
the details all finely incised.

A BLUE OVERLAY SNOWFLAKE GLASS ‘FLYING DRAGON’
SNUFF BOTTLE
1880-1920
Of flattened ovoid form, surmounted by a gently flaring neck with flat lip,
the blue overlay on one side carved to form a winged dragon, on the
other carved with eight characters enclosed within an oval cartouche
reading feilong zai tian li jian daren (when the dragon flies in the sky,
advantage greets the great man), all supported on a neat oval foot ring
surrounding the convex foot.
