A LAVENDER JADEITE SNUFF BOTTLE
Of flattened circular form, surmounted by a tubular neck with flat lip,
the sides carved in relief with a continuous scene of a bird perched on
a rock beside a prunus tree, the rocky ground encasing the oval foot
ring, the pale purple stone with white streaks.

A WHITE JADE ‘CATFISH’ SNUFF BOTTLE
18th Century
Naturalistically carved in the form of a bottom-feeding fish, with
flattened head and body, the fins all held flat against its body, the
mouth of the fish forming the mouth of the bottle and flanked by a pair
of barbels and two filled drilled holes, the tail of the fish curled over
its back, the translucent stone with icy white inclusions and russet
veining.
