A CELADON JADE ‘MARIGOLD’ SNUFF BOTTLE
1750-1820
Of flattened ovoid shape, one side incised with an image of a marigold
plant bearing one large and one small bloom, the other side inscribed with
an imperial poem in praise of the marigold, surmounted by a short waisted
neck with a broad oval lip, all supported on a flat attenuated oval foot.

A TOURMALINE ‘SCHOLAR AND FISHERMAN’ SNUFF BOTTLE
Of flattened rounded rectangular form, surmounted by a tubular neck with
a slightly concave lip and supported on an oval foot ring, the sides carved
in low relief, one side depicting a fisherman reeling in his catch, the other a
scholar observing a crane while his attendant holds his books, the material
a rich, deep pink color.
