A YELLOW JADE ‘QIN’ SNUFF BOTTLE
1750-1850
Of flattened ovoid form with a short neck and a flat lip, supported on a
concave foot, carved in low relief with the top view of a qin on one side
and the underside of the qin on the other, wrapped with two pieces of
brocade, incised with a diaper pattern and tied in a knot over the qin,
the stone with a yellow tinge and cloudy white inclusions.

A LAPIS LAZULI SNUFF BOTTLE
Early 20th century
Of flattened tear-drop shape with a lipped rim and short oval foot ring,
carved in low relief, one side depicting Meng Haoran on a mule in
search of the perfect plum blossom, the other with Wang Xizhi looking
towards a goose held by his attendant for inspiration, the shoulders
carved with mock lion mask and ring handles.
