A CELADON JADE ‘SAGES’ SNUFF BOTTLE
Suzhou school, 1750-1820
Of flattened rounded form surmounted by a tapered neck with a flat
lip, supported on a concave foot, the pale russet skin on one side
deftly carved to form a blossoming prunus tree, with a sage admiring
its beauty in a rocky landscape, the gray inclusion on the other side
carved to form a fantastically shaped rock, with a pine tree growing
from its side, a sage leaning on a balustrade to get a closer look, the
stone an even pale green color.
