A LARGE COROMANDEL CABINET WITH STAND
Republic Period
Composed of a rectangular frame supporting paired doors carved
with an elaborate scene of scholars and figures congregating in a
garden complex, the rectangular base carved with floral scrolls above
a scalloped apron joined to cabriole legs.

16th/17th century
Possibly Ryukyu Island, The top finely inlaid with a gather of scholars
and sages in a series of pavilions centered on a seated noble, the main
scene enclosed by vignettes of leafy foliage and key fret brackets on
the tapered apron decorated with further daily scenes separated by an
elaborate diaper band.
