borders of foliate swags, fruit and flower
sprays.

A TORTOISESHELL BRISÉ FAN
Circa 1790
Carved with a central shield with two
peacocks in a garden, flanked by two further
cartouches of pagodas in landscapes, on
a ground of scrolling floral stems, beneath
border panels of stylised flowerheads and
flower sprays, the guard sticks deeply carved
with dense floral and foliate designs.
20cm (7.7/8in) long.

A FILIGREE AND ENAMEL BRISÉ FAN
Circa 1815
Each side enamelled with a central shield
form cartouche of pavilions in a tree-strewn
landscape, flanked by scrolling, flowering
stems, the border with delicate single flower
sprays, on a fine gilt filigree ground, fitted box.
