BODHISATTVA
Ming Dynasty
Seated side-saddle on a caparisoned lion with the left leg folded over
the right, the Bodhisattva wearing a thickly folded dhoti painted red
and green, the chest bedecked in beaded jewellery, the right hand
resting with palm upturned over the left foot, the left held aloft in a
mudra, with a lotus at each shoulder supporting an implement, the
face, chest, hands and feet covered in gilt, the elaborate tiara with red
and green pigment. 27cm (10 5/8in) high
