AN INSIDE-PAINTED CRYSTAL SNUFF BOTTLE EXHIBITED
ATTRIBUTED TO YE BENQI, 1920-1940 Boston, International Chinese Snuf Bottle Society Convention,
The Barron Collection, 23-26 September 2008.
The bottle is painted with a continuous scene of eight brightly
colored birds squabbling amidst branches and on a rocky precipice.
One side has an inscription with the cyclical date Renzi (1912) and This bottle is part of a small group of inside-painted bottles likely
signature of Ye Zhongsan, followed by a red seal below the neck. painted by Ye Benqi, to which he signed his father’s name. For
another stylistically similar bottle signed Ye Zhongsan see Lilla S.

A BLUE AND WHITE PORCELAIN SNUFF BOTTLE
JINGDEZHEN KILNS, 1840-1880
The cylindrical body is decorated with a continuous scene of a
military encampment with a sleeping general projecting a dream
to a nearby Daoist priest, with swirling clouds and a crescent
moon above. The base with a blossoming lotus.
