META-ANALYSIS is a method that uses statistical techniques to combine results from different studies and ob-
tain quantitative estimate of the overall effect of a particular intervention or variable on a defined outcome. Me-
ta-analysis produces a stronger conclusion that can provided by any individual study.

REVIEW ARTICLE is an article that summarizes the current state of understanding on a topic. A review article sur-
veys and summarizes previously published studies.

PROSPECTIVE STUDY watches for outcomes, such as the development of a disease, during the study period and
relates this to other factors such as suspected risk or protection factor(s). The study usually involves taking a cohort
of subjects and watching them over a long period.

TESTING REPORT is a document that records data obtained from an experiment of evaluation in an organized
manner, describes the environmental or operating conditions, and shows the comparison of test results with test
             objectives.

             MEDICATION COMPLIANCE AND PERSISTENCE
Cramer JA, Roy A, Burrell A, Fairchild CJ, Fuldeore MJ, Ollendorf DA, Wong PK. Value Health. 2008 Jan-Feb;11(1):44-7.

                                               Figure 1 Compliance, persistence, adherence

Providing specific definitions for compliance and persistence is important for sound quantitative expressions of
patients’ drug dosing histories and their explanatory power for clinical and economic events.
