It is Jones-Hamilton Co.’s policy to safely produce and deliver in a timely manner
products and services that meet customer expectations. In order to accomplish this,
we are committed to complying with applicable food safety and quality management
system. Our goal is to continually improve the effectiveness of our food safety and
quality management system by establishing appropriate food safety and quality
objectives at relevant functions and levels within the organization.
SAFETY PROGRAM
All new employees will be instructed on the Jones-Hamilton Co. safety rules and
procedures during their initial safety orientation conducted by their Supervisor or an
authorized representative of Jones-Hamilton Co. Continual training will be provided
via monthly Safety Meetings.
PERSONAL PROTECTION EQUIPMENT
The purpose of personal protective equipment is to reduce one’s exposures to
workplace hazards when engineering and administrative controls are not feasible or
effective in reducing these exposures to acceptable levels. This equipment may
include but is not limited to hardhats, safety glasses, hearing protection, respirators,
gloves, safety shoes and coveralls.
Jones-Hamilton Co. will furnish all necessary personal protective equipment or provide
an allowance for certain items (safety shoes and prescription safety glasses) for the
work tasks expected to be performed.
A specified allowance is available to eligible employees to purchase steel-toed safety
shoes only. Effective January 1, 2016 safety boot allowance for plant operations
personnel is $250 per year and $150 per year for Plant Supervisors and AG Personnel.
This allowance may be used at any time during the calendar year for such purchases.
Unused allowance balance cannot be carried forward to the next year. Employees are
eligible for the safety shoe allowance after satisfactory completion of their first ninety
(90) days of employment. Prior to an employee’s eligibility for the safety boot
allowance, Jones-Hamilton Co. will furnish steel-toed rubber safety shoes to be worn in
all production areas. For complete details on the Safety Shoe Policy, see procedure
332-EHS, title “Safety Shoe Policy”.
Allowance for Prescription Safety glasses is $250 per year. Additional information can
be attained in policy JH/W-331-EHS (Walbridge site) and JH/R-331-ESH (Richburg
site), title “Personal Protection Program”.
Employees will be instructed on the proper use, care and maintenance of all issued
personal protective equipment prior to first use.
DISCIPLINARY ACTION
Enforcing safety rules and disciplining violators are important components of our safety
efforts. Therefore, any employee who violates a safety Policy or Procedure will be
disciplined up to and including termination.
