Chapter 6: Adit and His Dark Side
Adit’s footsteps echoed through the cold, silent stone corridor. Before him, the Gate of
Enigma City stood tall and proud. Still, unmoving—but somehow alive. The carved eyes
above the gate seemed to follow his every move.
“I’ve come this far. I won’t lose now,” he hissed.
But Adit’s body was growing tired. He leaned against the wall. In that silence, his thoughts
wandered… and the darkness of his past came crashing in.
[Flashback: Three Years Ago]
Adit stood in his father’s luxurious study. A tall man in a business robe and thick glasses
glared at him.
“You are nobody if you just follow others. You have to lead. You must be first!”
“But, Dad, they’re my friends...”
“Friends? This world is not for the weak. If you want to be respected, you must own
everything. Don’t share the outcome with others. They’re just obstacles.”
Young Adit clenched his teeth. The light of childhood slowly faded from his eyes.
[Back to Present]
Adit snapped out of his thoughts, breathing heavily. The Enigma Gate still stood before him.
But now, the eyes on the gate glowed with a faint red light.
“I won’t fail. I’ll prove it to everyone. I don’t need them.”
He looked back down the corridor. Faces flashed in his mind—
Nayla: smart and decisive,
Farel: brave,
Tiara: caring,
Raka: funny and loyal,
Gilang: quiet but honest.
They haunted him.
“They always thought they were better. But I can be faster. Smarter. More deserving!”
Adit pulled out a field disruptor tool he had stolen from his father’s lab, trying to dismantle
the energy guarding the gate.
The device lit up—then sparked and exploded in his hand. Electric currents surged, injuring
his hand.
“AARRGH!!” Adit screamed.
On the wall, ancient symbols began to glow:
“You have harmed the key. Now you are the burden.”
“WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?!” he shouted.
Then… the floor beneath him cracked. Suddenly, the corridor caved in—pulling Adit into a
hidden black void.
Back with Nayla’s group...
That morning, a thin mist blanketed the inner corridor.
Raka woke up, pain slightly reduced. “I can keep going… slowly.”
