Our In-Camera Metering Display




























               On the left you will a typical Exposure meter as it is displayed on the LCD screen, and on
               the right as you look through the viewfinder. Depending on the model camera you have
               it may appear slightly different. Take note that setting the tick below 0 indicates the
               exposure is correct on this Nikon camera.

               By changing your shutter speed, aperture or ISO will cause the tick mark in the middle to
               move to the right or to the left.

               I also want you to take note of the + and – sign on each end, and that there is a larger
               vertical bar or Number after 2 smaller squares or circles. Each square/circle is 1/3 stop,
               while the larger vertical bars /Numbers are 1 full stop. So, the progression from the 0
               would be 1/3 stop, 2/3 stop then 1 full stop. Moving the tick by stops to the right will
               make the image brighter (right is bright) which overexposes your image. Moving the tick
               to the left will make the image darker. Like your histogram, remember darks on the left
               and lights on the right.
