• In some photographs lost highlight in a nonessential part of your photograph
may be fine, but your subject should never be clipped in the highlights.
Setting Exposure Compensation
Finding the setting for EC is usually a button marked with a +/- sign on the back or top
of your camera. Pressing the button will bring up the metering box. If it is not found on
your DSLR camera body, it is in the menu system for camera settings.

Once you have the meter displayed as above or in your view finder you can increase or
decrease your exposure by turning the Command Dial or Arrows on the Wheel and Set.
Every camera will be a bit different so you should break out the manual and become
proficient in making changes to the exposure this way. * You will not be able to see or
change this setting in M Program Mode, only A/Av or S/Tv.
Moving the small tick under the 0 to the right will overexpose, while moving it to the left
will underexpose. Each click movement on the Command Dial moves that tick by 1/3
Stop. Three clicks will move it a Full Stop.
