Rocks lining the bay at Crescent City, California. Nikon D750, 35mm, f/14. A 10 Stop ND filter
was used for a 10 second exposure mid-morning.

I recommend using a phone app to calculate your exposures when using a ND filter.
There are a number of good ones for Android or Apple. Just do a search for “ND calc”

               To Use the ND Calculator

First, expose your image without the filter and remember the shutter speed. Open the
app on your phone. In the slider for shutter speed input the shutter speed without the
filter. In the next slider input what ND filter you are using (e.g. ND10). The program
               calculates your new exposure.

Example: Shutter Speed is 1/60 for your exposure without the filter. Using the original
shutter speed of 1/60 and a ND10, now gives you a new exposure of 20 seconds. Now
attach your ND10 filter and set your exposure for 20 seconds.
