Measuring Microhematocrit

• Microhematocrit tubes are used

for measuring hematocrit or

packed cell volume

• They have a thin red band

around the end of the tube

• These tubes are coated with

sodium heparin

• Blood flows freely into these

tubes because of capillary

action
