Good Friday Stations of the Cross

      Station Five

Jesus is stripped of his garments

Reading: Mark 15:24 And they crucified him, and divided his
clothes among them, casting lots to decide what each should take.

      Reflection:
He was left with nothing. Naked before the world. Disgraced and
      an object of ridicule.
      Prayer:
Lord, for our sake You left the riches of heaven and became poor.
You came within our reach and we rejected you, even to death.
May we be open to our guilt, and admit to each other, the
complicity in our sin to crucify you again and again.
      Amen.

      Activity:
Imagine you are standing in front of a massive crowd of your
peers and your clothing has been removed exposing you while
being tortured and hung to death. One of many who were used to
show the power and domination of a foreign ruler. Imagine our
freedoms taken and justice denied for the sake of political gain
      and subjugation.

Reading: John 19:16-27 (read the entire passage)
