SPECIAL EDUCATION
Special Education at Mayfield High School
The Special Education department serves students in four different programs:
Cognitively Disabled Students
Hearing Impaired Students
Learning Disabilities Students
Multi-Handicapped Students
These programs serve disabled students in grades 9 through 12. Eligibility for the program is
determined by the standards set by the Ohio Division of Special Education. Individual needs and
learning styles dictate each student’s program. Students are provided viable alternatives within
an integrated high school setting in either general education classes and/or intervention/resource
classes taught by special education teachers. Students in these classes are taught the subjects
required for graduation in a small group setting.
