Marching/Concert Band is a select ensemble
of students in grades 9-12 who have
demonstrated appropriate skills/knowledge
on their instrument at the high school level.
During the summer and fall season, this band
comprises The PRIDE of Mayfield Wildcat
Marching Band. After the conclusion of the
marching season, the students in band will
play in a performance focused concert band.
In addition to performing at every varsity
football game, the band also performs at
numerous concerts, festivals, and parades.
Band students are required to attend all
band performances and events.
As a participant of the high school band
program, every band student is expected and
required to participate in all events and
performances, as stated above. In addition to
performances during the school year, band
members are required to perform in summer
parades and attend summer band camp.
Students are responsible for purchase of
equipment and clothing for summer parades,
marching band, and concert band.
Students wishing to enroll must be a member
of the Mayfield Middle School band and have
participated in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade.
Students wishing to enroll who were not
members of the middle school band program
must do so by audition and director
discretion.
By meeting additional requirements, junior
and senior band members will be able to
obtain honors credit for this course. The
requirements and options for earning honors
credit are available to students who inquire
with the director at the end of the previous
school year.
