Examination Review
Here are some tips to help you prepare for the examination.
1. Start reviewing well ahead of time. Don’t try to do everything all at once.
2. Read through the poem or story. Review your Basic Understanding questions and
answers on each text.
3. Review your Analysis and Interpretation questions and answers relating to the new
thinking skills you learned for each literary text. If you were unable to answer any of
the questions, work with a partner or in a study group to find the information.
4. Read through your answers to the Summative Assessment task questions for
each literary text.
5. Work with a partner or in a study group. Make a list of the HOTS you have learned
and keep the list in front of you. Take turns to read out a question from one of the
Analysis and Interpretation sections of the coursebook while others have their books
closed. Decide which HOTS is most appropriate for that question and explain why.
6. Write down what you know about the author of the literary text and anything
else about the history or social setting of the time which is relevant to understanding
the text.
7. Write down what you liked best or found most interesting about each literary text.
8. Summarize key information on each text on one page. One way to summarize is
to answer the questions: Who, What, When, Where and Why. Another way is to
summarize Time, Place, Character/s, Problem, Resolution.
Good luck!
