It was bad luck rather than design that I found myself aboard the Resurgam III, a device

for traversing beneath the waves. The inventor, Reverend George Garrett calls it a
‘submarine’, I call it the ‘Curate’s Egg’.

I arrived in this unfortunate position having lost a game of cards to Garrett and, in lieu
of financial recompense, was employed for my navigation skills. The Reverend Garrett is
searching for the lost city of Atlantis and had spent many years planning this final
          voyage.
While diving to the supposed location of the fabled city, the submarine was attacked by a
giant squid and we were forced to abandon ship. Things truly looked bleak until out of
the gloom appeared a shoal of Giant Sea Turtles.
The turtles kept us buoyant feeding us a strange type of seaweed looking like asparagus
that kept us hydrated as well as fed. They continued this for 3 days until our ship
found us whereupon I retained some samples of this delightful sea fauna to return to
          England with us.
I made a pledge to the sea beasts to never endanger their lives and as such, vow to never
use straws that pollute the seas.
The reverend, I drop at the next port where I emphatically pronounce that my debt is
          paid in full.
