I arrived in Hawaii today in the midst of a violent storm. On trying to lash down one
of the sails, I am knocked overboard. Stunned and disorientated, I feared it was time for
me to meet my maker. However, I am plucked from the water by a local native child
who is out swimming in the waves and he rests me on what I can only describe as a
          carved plank of wood.
Buoyed on the plank, the child then paddles me towards the shore. I see the gargantuan
waves ahead of me and recoil as the child steers towards them. Seeing my distress at
our approach to impending doom, the boy laughs and jumps up on the plank next to me
proceeding to ride the wave in a feat of skill and daring I have never seen. We coast
onto the shore unharmed albeit a bit damp.
I ask this water-borne child his name and he tells me it is Kahanamoku. I express my
gratitude and disclose that I will write to my Mother to ask her to bestow a Duchy on
          him.

Duke Kahanamoku thought riding his odd plank would become popular across the world.
Personally, I feel he may have spent too much time in the sun.
