Employee Appreciation Day, an annual national event held the first Friday in March, was celebrated

throughout the County on March 3 .

To kick off the County’s first ever Employee Appreciation Day festivities, Nick Pasculli, the County’s
Communication Director, conducted a “Fireside Chat with Our New CAO” webinar. Participants had an
opportunity to meet our CAO, Sonia De La Rosa, who encouraged managers and supervisors to get to know
their employees and identify ways employees would like to be appreciated. For example, some employees
may feel valued when receiving verbal acknowledgement from their supervisor or manager and others may
prefer receiving a certificate of appreciation or the opportunity to gather for a team event. To view the 24-

The Human Resources Department provided Department Heads a listing of no or low-cost ideas to celebrate
Employee Appreciation Day, which includes sending thank you notes to employees, bringing in goodies to
share and acknowledging team members at a staff meeting. For the complete list, click HERE.

Employee Appreciation Day messages were posted on the Human Resources Department’s Facebook,
Instagram and Twitter pages to make social media followers aware of the celebration and a banner was
posted on the County’s infonet website for all employees to view.

To top things off, Chair Alejo presented an Employee Appreciation Day Resolution to our CAO and Director of
Human Resources at the 2/28/2023 Board of Supervisors’ meeting, and each of the Board of Supervisors
recorded a brief message of appreciation to employees. These were distributed via Countywide emails on
