The Watchtower tries to justify its insertion of “other” by pointing out that the Greek word for “all”
(panta) can be translated in some NT contexts as “all other” in order to make the English read more
smoothly. As example, Jesus’s Words in Luke 13:2 are “Do you suppose that these Galileans were
greater sinners than all other (panta) Galileans… Because the translation is acceptable in Luke 13:2, it is
acceptable in Col. 1:16-17.
However, the insertion of “other” in Luke 14:2 does NOT change the meaning of the verse at all and
does make it read more smoothly. But the insertion of the word, “other” in Col. 1:16-17 changes
entirely the meaning of the text. The Watchtower inserts the word, “other” to clearly enforce the idea
that Jesus Christ is a created being and therefore not God Almighty.
WITNESSING NOTE: Jehovah in Isaiah 44:24 said, “I, the Lord, am the maker of all things, stretching
out the heavens by Myself, and spreading out the earth all alone.” How do you reconcile this with the
Watchtower teaching that Jehovah first created Christ and then Christ created everything else?
