12.  Isaiah 9:6
               6 For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us;
                        And the government will rest on His shoulders;
                        And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
                        Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.

               JWs concede that Jesus is a “mighty god,”, but they are adamant that He is not God
               Almighty like Jehovah is. To call God “Almighty”, they reason, means that there are other gods who are
               not as almighty as He. They classify Jesus as “a mighty god” but not THE MIGHTY GOD.

               In Isaiah 10:21, Jehovah Himself is called “Mighty God” using the same Hebrew word as used in this
               verse to describe the prophecy of the coming of Jesus Christ, who is also to be a “Mighty God” (same
               word). Therefore, Jesus is equal with the Father – both are called “Mighty God.”

               Also Jehovah is called “Mighty God” in Jeremiah 32:17-18 and the sole Creator of the heavens and earth.

               There cannot be two “Mighty Gods!” Isaiah 44: 6b says “I am the first and I am the last; besides me
               there is no god.” Isaiah 45:5a says “I am the Lord, and there is no other, beside me there is no God.”
               Jehovah said there is only ONE God, no others! Yet Jesus is called “Mighty God.”

               WITNESSING NOTE: Since Jehovah is called “Mighty God” in Isaiah 10:21 and
               Jeremiah 32:17-18, and Jesus Christ is called “Mighty God” in Isaiah 9:6, doesn’t
               this mean that the Watchtower Society is wrong in saying that the designation
               of “Mighty God” indicates a lesser deity? If Jesus is called “Mighty God” and
               Jehovah is called “Mighty God”, what does this tell you about Jesus’ divine
               nature?

               By the way, “Everlasting Father” in Isaiah 9:6 does not mean that Jesus is the Father. It is better
               translated “possessor of eternity” or “eternal one”. It is an idiom used to describe the Messiah’s
               relationship to time, not His relationship to the other Members of the Trinity.

                                   How Do I Respond to the Claim of a JW That Jesus is Not God?
