and not of a man!” And immediately an angel of the Lord struck him because he did not give God the
glory, and he was eaten by worms and died.” (Acts 12:18–23, NASB95). ““Yet now I urge you to keep up
your courage, for there will be no loss of life among you, but only of the ship. “For this very night an
angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve stood before me, saying, ‘Do not be afraid, Paul;
you must stand before Caesar; and behold, God has granted you all those who are sailing with you’”
(Acts 27:22–24, NASB95).
Angels Provides Strength and Encouragement
“Now Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, and how he had killed all the prophets with the sword.
Then Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah, saying, “So may the gods do to me and even more, if I do not
make your life as the life of one of them by tomorrow about this time.” And he was afraid and arose and
ran for his life and came to Beersheba, which belongs to Judah, and left his servant there. But he himself
went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree; and he requested
for himself that he might die, and said, “It is enough; now, O LORD, take my life, for I am not better than
my fathers.” He lay down and slept under a juniper tree; and behold, there was an angel touching him,
and he said to him, “Arise, eat.” Then he looked and behold, there was at his head a bread cake baked on
hot stones, and a jar of water. So he ate and drank and lay down again. The angel of the LORD came
again a second time and touched him and said, “Arise, eat, because the journey is too great for you.” So
he arose and ate and drank, and went in the strength of that food forty days and forty nights to Horeb,
the mountain of God” (1 Kgs. 19:1–8, NASB95). “But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zacharias,
for your petition has been heard, and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you will give him the
name John” (Luke 1:13, NASB95). “The angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; for you have found
favor with God. “And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name Him
Jesus. “He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give Him the
throne of His father David; and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and His kingdom will have
no end”” (Luke 1:30–33, NASB95).
Angels Praise God
One of the chief activities of holy angels is giving worship to God. The Bible repeatedly speaks of angels
praising the Lord. Angels minister directly to God by glorifying him. Thus, in addition to human beings,
there are other intelligent, moral creatures who glorify God in the universe.
Angels glorify God for who he is in himself, for his excellence. The Bible clearly shows that God created
in Angels to serve his purposes and worship him alone. Angels praise God all the time. Is it not mind
blowing that God does not lack praise? God the architect of all things does not lack praise. “In the year
of King Uzziah’s death I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, lofty and exalted, with the train of His robe
filling the temple. Seraphim stood above Him, each having six wings: with two he covered his face, and
with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one called out to another and said, “Holy, Holy,
Holy, is the LORD of hosts, the whole earth is full of His glory.” And the foundations of the thresholds
trembled at the voice of him who called out, while the temple was filling with smoke. Then I said, “Woe is
me, for I am ruined! Because I am a man of unclean lips, And I live among a people of unclean lips; For
my eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.” Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a burning coal
in his hand, which he had taken from the altar with tongs. He touched my mouth with it and said,
“Behold, this has touched your lips; and your iniquity is taken away and your sin is forgiven”” (Isa. 6:1–7,
NASB95). “Praise Him, all His angels; Praise Him, all His hosts!” (Psa. 148:2, NASB95) “When the morning
stars sang together and all the sons of God shouted for joy?” (Job 38:7, NASB95). “Bless the LORD, you His
