your sins" (1 Corinthians 15:17).
Jesus was "raised up" to God.
o "Behold! Allah said: 'O Jesus! I will take thee and raise thee to Myself and clear thee (of the
falsehoods) of those who blaspheme; I will make those who follow thee superior to those
who reject faith, to the Day of Resurrection. Then shall ye all return unto me, and I will judge
between you of the matters wherein ye dispute.'" - Al-Imran (The Family of Imran) 3:55
o [Jesus said:] "So peace is on me the day I was born, the day that I die, and the day that I
shall be raised up to life (again)!" - Maryam (Mary) 19:33 See also Surah 4:158
According to the traditions, Muhammad (just before his death) claimed that Jesus lived for 125
years.
o "...and there has been no prophet but he has lived half the life of the prophet preceding
him. Jesus the son of Mary lived for one hundred and twenty-five years, and this is the sixty
second year of my life. He (the Prophet) died half the year after this."83
Jesus is called a "Spirit from God" (ruhun mina' Llah) and the "Word of God" (kalimatu-Llah).
o "O People of the Scripture! Do not exaggerate in your religion nor utter aught concerning
Allah save the truth. The Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, was only a messenger of Allah, and His
Word which He conveyed unto Mary, and a spirit from Him." - An-Nisa' (Women) 4:171a
(emphasis added)
Muslim tradition contends that Jesus will return as a Just Ruler in the Last Days and will rule for 40
years before dying and being buried in Medina alongside Muhammad, Abu Bakr, and Umar (the first
and second Sunni caliphs respectively).84
Jesus is mentioned in the Qur'an by name 25 times.
