"The Trumpet will (just) be sounded, when all that are in the heavens and on earth will swoon,
except such as it will please Allah (to exempt). Then will a second one be sounded, when, behold,
they will be standing and looking on!" - Az-Zumar (The Troops) 39:68
• This verse is open to interpretation, but scholars speculate that the second trumpet
blast ushers in the resurrection.
o Every person will be judged based on their deeds. Popular opinion is that deeds recorded before
puberty are not judged.
All that they do is noted in (their) Books (of Deeds). Every matter, small and great, is on
record." - Al-Qamar (The Moon) 54:53
"On that Day will men proceed in companies sorted out, to be shown the deeds that they (had
done). Then shall anyone who has done an atom's weight of good, see it. And anyone who has
done an atom's weight of evil, shall see it."
o Those found righteous (and to whom God has mercy) will be - Al-Zalzala (The Earthquake) 99:6-8
admitted into Heaven (Jannah).
"As to the Righteous, they will be in the midst of Gardens and Rivers..." - Al-Qamar (The Moon)
54:54
"Those who believe (in the Qur'an), and those who follow the Jewish (scriptures), and the
Christians and the Sabians righteousness - shall have their reward with their Lord. On them shall
be no fear, nor shall they grieve." - Al-Baqarah - any who believe in Allah and the Last Day, and
work (The Cow) 2:62 I.
o Unbelievers will be destined to Hell (Jahannam) for eternity.
"Verily Allah has cursed the Unbelievers and prepared for them a Blazing Fire to dwell therein
forever; no protector will they find, nor helper." - Al-Ahzab (The Clans) 33:64-65
"Nay, the hour is their promised time, and the hour shall be most grievous and bitter. Surely the
guilty are in error and distress. On the day when they shall be dragged upon their faces into the
fire, (they will hear:) taste the touch of hell." - Al-Qamar (The Moon) 54:46-48
"Can they be (like) those who accept a clear (sign) from their Lord, and whom a witness from
Himself doth teach, as did the Book of Moses before it, a guide and a mercy? They believe
therein; but those of the Sects that reject it, the Fire will be their promised meeting place. Be not
then in doubt thereon: for it is the truth from thy Lord: yet many among men do not believe!" -
Hud 11:17
Fate/Predestination
The article of predestination was not included with the other five doctrines in the Qur'an but is clearly accepted as a sixth
doctrine in the Hadith,90 and was debated by Muslims theologians nearly a century after Muhammad's death.
• Historically, Islam teaches that Allah has decreed all things.
o This includes all that happens, good and evil, obedience or disobedience, faith or infidelity, sickness or
health, riches or poverty, life or death.
o Muslims frequently qualify any predictions of what may come to pass with the phrase Insha'Allah ("if God
willed it").91
This phrase recognizes the limitations of knowledge of the future, and that all that may or may
not come to pass is under the control and knowledge of God.
• There are generally three schools of thought concerning predestination or fate (known as "qadr").
• Jabarites (or Al-Jabiriyah).
o The Jabarites plainly said that Allah decreed everything, good or bad, and that man has no choice to do
anything
• Qaderites (or Al-Qadiriyah). except what Allah has willed for him.
o The Qaderites claim that evil and injustice cannot be blamed onto Allah, but are the result of man's own
