Three Major interpretations of Future Prophecy
Three major interpretations of future prophecy give differing answers to the important question “Will
God literally yet fulfill His promise of the defined land to the Nation of Israel in the future?”

We will now describe the three major interpretations of future prophecy. Note that the prefixes of these
words, post-, a-, and pre-, relate to the timing of the Millennium with respect to the Second Coming of
               Jesus Christ.

               Postmillennialism
This viewpoint teaches that Christ will return after (post-) the millennium. The present age will develop
morally and spiritually through the efforts of the church, until it issues in the millennial age, with Christ
returning to earth at the conclusion of the millennium. The kingdom will be on earth, but it will be a
"church kingdom" not a Jewish kingdom, and the King, Jesus Christ, will be absent from the earth, not
present on it. He will rule in the hearts of the people. This view teaches that the Church has replaced
the nation of Israel in God’s eyes. Therefore, God will fulfill the promises of the kingdom in a symbolic
               way to the Church.

               Postmillennialism looks like this:
                                                                   nd
                                                                  2 Coming

                       † Millennium Eternity
