P. 9
In the earthly sense, there is no return on investment in giving. When you give, it is gone. You do not
get anything back from your investment. In heaven’s perspective, it is better to give than to receive
back. And in giving, you are laying up treasures in Heaven for all eternity!
II Corinthians 9: 6-9 Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows
generously will also reap generously. 7 Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to
give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to bless you
abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good
work. 9 As it is written: “They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor; their righteousness endures
forever.”
And the returns on a heavenly investment are promised. You will be returned blessings abundant! But
from an earthly mind, we don’t see it that way.
The reason why Jesus taught this is not so that we blindly invest or give
away all of our wealth, but to make sure we have the right perspective,
God’s perspective in how we use our wealth. You have never seen a
person at a funeral with a trailer connected to his casket, have you? The
saying, “You cannot take it with you!” is so true. Life is not about the
accumulation of wealth while ignoring the needs of those around us who
are less fortunate. As Dr. Mun said, “Remember, when we pass from this
life on to the next, we will have to give an account to Jesus Himself, and I am sure we will be reminded
of His words:”
Matthew 25: 34-40 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my
Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.35For I was
hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a
stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after
me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ 37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we
see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a
stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison
and go to visit you?’ 40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of
these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
God’s way of handling money (heavenly perspective) will help you be successful in managing what He
gives you on earth.
God tells us to avoid speculative risky investments and slowly over longer periods of time save for the
future.
Proverbs 21: 5 The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty.
God tells us to invest in our future (heavenly economics) but the world tells to spend
what you get! Enjoy life! Get it now!
Proverbs 21:20 (Amplified) There is precious treasure and oil in the house of the wise
[who prepare for the future], But a short-sighted and foolish man swallows it up and
wastes it.
