slavery and captured and sold slaves throughout the world. Wilberforce campaigned against the evil
trade for most of his life in parliament. Just three days before his death, Parliament passed the Slavery
Abolition Act of 1833 which banned slavery in the British Empire. Wilber Wilberforce fought against this
evil his entire life.
“God Almighty has set before me two great objects, the suppression of the slave trade and the
reformation of manners (morality).” – William Wilberforce
9. Confront the world in the Church. If you see some worldly practices come into your church, confront
them directly. It could be confronting false teaching or teachers. It could be confronting a style of music
that is definitely ungodly. It could be that the emphasis of the ministry has moved away from the clear
emphasis of God’s Word. These verses speak to these matters: Matt. 18:15, Rom. 16:17, I Cor. 5:1-8,
Gal. 6:1, II Thess. 3:6, I Tim. 5:1-20, Titus 3:10, II John 10
10. Confront the world in yourself – Spend some time before God and see if there is any of the world in
your thoughts or practices. If you have developed worldly habits, get rid of them. Confess the sin in
your life and seek to turn from it in your future life. Romans 7, I John 1:9
