Just as you build a house for your family to live in…one that will be comfortable and
functional and meet all your needs… so God during the six days of creation has man in mind
when he was creating. He was building a house for mankind. It was to be a place where
man could live, eat, raise a family, and live in perfect harmony with all the creation. That’s
why God called what he created, “GOOD!” Let see the steps daily as God creates a house for
                          mankind.

                6.2 Objectives.

                      1. The student should be able to describe Day 2 through Day 6, learning what God created on
each of the days. You should be able to list all that God made on each day.

                      2. The student should be able to list all the various “origins” found in the Book of Genesis.

               3. The student should be able to show how other Old Testament and New Testament books validate the
authenticity of the book of Genesis

6.3 Day 2 – Waters and Separation of Firmament Genesis 1:6-8

6 And God said, “Let there be an expansein the midst of the waters, and let it separate the

waters from the waters.” And God made the expanse and separated the waters that were
under the expanse from the waters that were above the expanse. And it was so. And God
                                                                                               8

called the expanse Heaven. And there was evening and there was morning, the second day.
                        (ESV)

God separated heaven from earth. That's what the expanse is referring to. On
day three, as we shall see, God separated water on earth from dry land. So
day one, day two, day three are a series of separations.

God put an expanse between heaven and earth - some water was above and
some remained on the earth. So you have the water that was still on the earth
and now some water that's separated and taken above. In between those two
elements of water there is an expanse.

Now the word "expanse" is the Hebrew word raqia. It means “spread out thinness.” And looking in
the Old Testament to find its usage, in Exodus 39:3 when they were making things for the worship of
God in the tabernacle, it says they got gold and they hammered out...they hammered out sheets of
gold. They flattened it out and spread it out and hammered it into thinness. They use the same verb as
the verb expanse. The picture is of a thin area that God just cuts right through the waters that
surround the earth. All the way around the earth is this water and God just cuts as if you would go in
there with a knife and just cut all the way through that sphere of the undifferentiated mass of
elements of the earth, separating it into two parts. There's still the part that's spherical and the water
