I am in love with this green earth,- the face of the
Town and Country,- the unspeakable rural solitudes,
and the sweet security of the streets.
CHARLES LAMB
"AND IN CONCLUSION . . ."
There are those who may say that a book of this
nature should include a list of committees and their
chairmen. Others would reply that it would be impos-
sible to make such a list complete. Many who have
worked long and hard for this celebration were not
officially on any committee at all. Others who have, in
reality, contributed most to the Bicentennial are no
longer with us. What they wrote and said and did lives
after them.
Therefore, we can only express our deepest thanks,
appreciation and gratitude to all the Kernersville citizens
of the past and present who have given us our Bicen-
tennial. May future generations be inspired by a com-
munity that worked so hard together for Kernersville.
"It was a small town, but there were those who
loved it."
