         Chronosequential table

In 1963 Gluckman began saving his poems and numbering them
in order written. Since he noted the number of the first piece
following a new year, it is possible to date his early works given the
sequence number and the following table:

              Year First poem
              ------ --------------
            1963 1
              1964 13
              1965 38
              1966 115
              1967 153
              1968 521
              1969 799
              1970 1512
              1971 1816
              1972 2019
              1973 2201
              1974 2232
              1975 2262
              1976 2312
              1977 2325
              1978 2334
              1979 2357
              1980 2486
              1981 2525
              1982 2533
              1983 2538
              1984 2553

Those sequence numbers serve as reference points for
determining the date written of individual works. This table also
yields a lopsided sort of bell curve of production, showing a peak in
1969 (a year of transitions for Gluckman) and a gradual tapering-off
through the 1970s (following Boundedness). About half the works in
this collection were composed after 1971, indicating a great number
         of early rejects.
