Fraxinella
Poor Fraxinella did not know why everyone around her was being
so cruel. She had enough sunlight now to stay alive, but her
loneliness remained very painful. She could see and hear the bees
buzzing about the roses, and she could catch bits of conversation
between the flowers and their pollinators.
“Don’t go in there,” the roses would say to the bees, “she is a
worthless miserable excuse for a rose, and she has the nasty habit of
catching on fire. You could get burned if you went too close.”
And when Fraxinella heard that she became very unhappy and
produced even more inflammable vapor, leading to further flare-ups
and the roses becoming very determined to prevent any bee from
ever paying her a visit.
