Chief (anything) Officer An inflated title given to a manager (see
curate).
Credible threat 1. Possibly real peril (see abundance of
caution). 2. A person not found to have been harmless after
being shot by police (see shooter).
Curate Choose, without benefit of qualification or expertise;
formerly a professional museological activity.
Dream Formerly “goal”, which implied effort and planning.
Demographic People grouped by purportedly objective
characteristics rather than epithetically; see PC.
Diss Disrespect, actively or by not giving props.
Due diligence Pre factum validation of procedures (see
abundance of caution for a parallel).
Empowerment Development of self-confidence independently
of any decrease in external sources of self-doubt.
Essential Describing basic services for societal survival:
indispensable; applied to the workers providing those services:
expendable.
Existential threat Literally, mortal menace; else, the fear that
one’s budget may be cut (see credible threat 1).
Explosive device Potential bomb, the destruction of which will
render its hazard unknowable.
