When the Yoan had stopped to catch his breath, Lugo quickly said,
“Reverend, this Captain Kaga. He’d like to hear about the opening last
night; his ship arrived late.”
“Yes, I would, indeed,” said Kaga quickly, anxious to keep the
conversation on a mundane level. “Was there great interest in your
planet’s exhibit?”
Three tiny eyes fixed Kaga in their gaze. “Interest? I suppose so. But
your PKU refused to give proper acknowledgement to the most
important things on Yo: gods! Instead, the visitors saw mechanical
models of a zorillium refining plant. I have protested formally,
Lieutenant, as you know, and I shall bring this matter up with the
Archbishop when I get home.”

“Gods above and gods below!”

“You’re perfectly right, Reverend,” said Lugo unctuously. “The
exhibition staff made a terrible mistake. We shall of course apologize
