     Recipe for Tasty Halloumi Burgers
You will need:
Barbecue and charcoal (optional)
Pastry brush
Tongs
250 g halloumi cheese, cut into 8 slices Tablespoon of olive oil
4 burger buns, split open 4 tablespoons of hummus
1 or 2 large tomatoes, sliced
Crunchy lettuce such as iceberg or little gem Ketchup or any other sauces you like!
Large Portobello mushrooms also go well with the halloumi and are a great
replacement for a meaty burger.
1 If using a barbecue, ask an adult to help you lay the charcoal and light it. You’ll need to leave the charcoal to go white before you start cooking.
2 Brush both sides of all the slices of halloumi with the olive oil.
3 Barbecue or grill the cheese on both sides until it is just golden brown. Do not overcook.
4 This should take only 2 or 3 minutes each side. Use the tongs to turn the cheese.
5 Toast the burger buns if you like, but again, only for 2 or 3 minutes.
6 Spread hummus on one half and any other sauce you fancy on the other half: ketchup, mayonnaise, chilli sauce, brown sauce – your choice!
7 Add a couple of slices of halloumi, the tomato and the lettuce. You can add other toppings, too. Avocado also goes well with this.
8 Pop the other half of the bun on top and sink your teeth into this delicious summer treat!
