    17th April Easter Sunday
The Christian festival of Easter starts on the Thursday before Easter Sunday with a day called ‘Maundy Thursday’, when Christians believe that Jesus invited his followers to a meal called the ‘Last Supper’. Easter ends on Easter Sunday, when Christians believe that Jesus came back from the dead. It is a time for new life and rebirth. Easter eggs are also popular on this day.
Some people believe that the tradition of giving and receiving Easter eggs comes from the pagan festival Ostara, or Ēostre. The Easter Bunny, who is supposed to bring the eggs, is thought to come from the pagan religion, which has the hare as the symbol of new life. Christians use
the symbol of the Easter egg to represent rebirth and the resurrection of Jesus.
