Here is an important lesson. Fighting is BAD. End of lesson. That was easy, huh?
Peace, love and harmony is what we should be aiming for in life. High fives all round. Sharing your jelly beans with one and all. Saying: “You look AwEsOmE in that hat” to people wearing hats.
But let’s face it, there are times when we let the love slip and get into a bit of a row. Perhaps your sister sneaked into your room while you were sleeping and sQuEeZeD a juicy spot on her chin in your general direction.
Or maybe your mum embarrassed you in front of your friends at the school gates by calling you her “fWuFfY wItTlE pOoPsY-BuNnYkInS”.
But while you might hAtE fighting, if you think YoU’vE GoT iT BaD, it was just part of everyday life for Aztecs of all ages . . .
War and warriors were incredibly important to the Aztecs and from DaY OnE boys were set on the path to being a warrior.
When they were born, every baby boy would be given items that symbolised warrior culture. A sHiElD would be put in his left hand and an ArRoW in his right.
Note!
Giving a baby an arrow? Errr, hello? Health and safety alert! Whatever happened to a rattle or a teddy bear?
    What´s in the bag?
A shrivelled up little umbilical cord.
I feel sick.
The shield and arrow, along with the boy’s umbilical cord (the weird cord that once attached YoU to
your mother via your belly button), would then be taken by an esteemed warrior to be buried on a battlefield.
