Girls couldn’t become warriors, so their umbilical cord would usually be bUrIeD under the fireplace in the family home, to symbolise her future role taking care of the household. Not so much of a thing these days, girls, so if you have a fireplace in your house, don’t worry about what might be buried under it!
Unlike today’s armies where most of the soldiers do that job all the time,
in the Aztec world most warriors had regular jobs when there wasn’t a battle being fought. They were tradesmen and farmers and the like. But when they were needed, they had to go and fight.
Muuuum! The fireplace smells of belly buttons again!
So, one moment your dad could be making a pot or harvesting some maize and the next he could have a SpEaR or slingshot in his hand and be heading off to war.

Where´s dad?
He´s off to fight a battle.
But he just popped out to buy some maggots for dinner.
