Climate change affects the plants that grow in different areas. This means that some migrant species arrive at their destinations expecting to find lots of food to eat – but nothing is there! Changing temperatures also confuse birds about when they should leave. Oil spills are another big problem for birds that have stopovers in contaminated areas along their journeys. Some migrants are even trapped by poachers or shot by hunters as they fly by.
