DAY 13: THE AUTHOR OF LIFE
“…the Prince of life, whom
God raised from the dead…”
Acts 3:15
Jing, my friend, received the devastating news. She has a
few months to live. After a year of remission from colon
cancer, the cancer metastasized to other parts of the body. I,
too, was devastated. She was cleared of cancer when I
started my own journey of it. When I got healed, hers came
back with a vengeance. Part of the letter I wrote to her says:
“Since no one knows the future, who can tell someone else
what is to come?... no one has power over the time of death.”
(Ecclesiastes 8:7-8). No one – not even the most brilliant
doctor in the world knows when the hour of death will come.
However, death is the destiny of everyone, and the day of
death is better than the day of birth. As everyone comes
naked from the mother’s womb, so they depart (See
Ecclesiastes 5:15; 7:1-2). God turns people back to dust. He
sweeps people away in the sleep of death, like the grass - it
springs up in the morning, but by evening, it dries and
withers (See Psalm 90:3-6). I know it will be tough, but God
is a faithful and compassionate God. He will never leave you
nor forsake you (See Hebrews 13:5).
Jing lived for a few more years before her appointed time to
meet the Lord came.
