God’s Love Energizes

Unwell Loved Ones: Achievers and active; bright and
brilliant. These were my parents, Martin and Nina. But
eventually, both became bedridden and dependent on 24/7
caregiving. I loved our conversations, but eventually, I could
only look into their eyes to talk with them while reassuringly
holding their hands.
My heart was breaking when Mom, a prolific writer,
struggled to hold up a pen due to a major bleed stroke in
2013. (After her 1 stroke in 2005, she persevered to write

using her left hand.) We gently distracted her to other goals.
Henceforth, she gladly dictated the poetry ringing in her
mind, immortalized in photo books. Mom was initially
taking in nutrition via a nasal-gastric tube. But we persisted
in feeding her pureed food for 5 months until her throat
strengthened, and she ate by mouth. Despite her physical
